ZOMBIES around the world
Do you ever wonder when the day will come?
Zombies have become icons in our culture and things of folklore in many other cultures all over the world. But the big question is: Is the threat of real life zombie attacks possible?
While going through my multicultural phase I came across many readings that caught my interest. The majority of them were local area folklore of those particular regions.
Looking back at what all these cultures around the world had in common I found out one thing... well, several things actually, but I will be focusing on one thing here.
... Stories, whether they be purely local, fictional or widespread, you will always see certain topics brought up multiple times.
... Death, the afterlife...
.... Ghost and Ghouls (things relating to the afterlife)....
... Vampires
and
Zombies...
Each and every culture I have looked at has at least some representation of their own ideas of these topics, whether they be the morals of that cultures beliefs. Death and what is behind it, as well as the paranormal arenas... mainly Vampires, Zombies, Ghost, so on, so forth.
What I am mostly hinting at here is the ideas we all hold regarding paranormal phenomenons.
Zombies, Vampires. What about these beings, whether purely fictional or actually existant at one point in time, pull at so many people that it has reached through several cultures.
Through many historical documents that I have come upon while researching I have read several stories regarding the existance of creatures that are not human anymore, but beings of a different sort. Beings that do not seem to hold the same conciousness that regular free thinking humans have, or beings that harbor a hunger that is not in our regular everyday "normal" nature.
Beings not directly referred as zombies or vampires, but beings that are more commonly known as the living dead, walking dead, the reanimated, the undead.
If stories of the existance of such beings have been around since the early scriptures of mesopotamia.
How do we know if they were not in some way, real.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that zombies and vamps are real. I'm just saying. What if they are not altogether fictional?
Now, I am saying this through the point of view of a person with a waaaaayyyyy too active imagination.
As a kid I believed Zombies, Vampires, Gargoyles, blah blah blah, were real. Then of course I grew up and rational thinking told me how to distinguish dreams from reality.
And although a part of me wishes that such things were actually real (because c'mon, it would be totally cool right?) I could tell the difference.
But again.... What if?
